At ease, soldier! This week's MOH Insider talks about the music behind the Medal of Honor Rising Sun game, which is being scored by the Hollywood Studio Symphony.
Setting the right mood for a game can be a daunting task. It's not only setup by the lighting of a specific level, or the ambient sounds heard in the background,
but music plays a big part in setting the tone and feel of any blockbuster title. Medal of Honor is no exception.

Medal of Honor Rising Sun is the first major video game score recorded by the world renowned Hollywood Studio Symphony. These talented musicians are responsible for performing memorable scores for films such as Indiana Jones, Schindler's List, Thin Red Line, Road to Perdition, The Sixth Sense, Born on the Fourth of July, Back to the Future, Edward Scissorhands, The Shawshank Redemption, The Godfather 2 and 3, as well as many others.
Bruce Dukov, the concertmaster, works extensively with composers John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith and Ennio Morricone and is the concertmaster for the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. The first trumpet player, Malcolm McNabb, recorded the legendary trumpet solos for the movie Chinatown.
Christopher Lennertz, the composer for the game, has written a powerful and lamenting score for the Pearl Harbor and Guadalcanal levels of Medal of Honor Rising Sun. He has truly taken the music of Medal of Honor to the next level by adding layers of emotional depth not attempted before in previous installments of the franchise. His diverse ear, attention to detail, and talent for creating memorable themes and melodies will drive the cinematic drama of the franchise. Incorporating indigenous musical instruments and influences from Japan to the Philippines, he will transport the player to the exotic lands of the Pacific Theater while retaining the heart and soul of the classic American WWII cinematic score.
There are a lot of talented people working on the score for the game. If you thought the music for Medal of Honor Frontline was good, then be prepared to have your expectations blown away. Keep your eyes out and ears open for the breathtaking soundtrack for Medal of Honor Rising Sun.
